जगाच्या पाठीवर अनेक राजे महाराजे व राजसत्त्ता होऊन गेल्या तरी छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांची तुलना करणे   योग्य एकही राजा सापडणे अशक्य आहे, म्हणूनूच छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांचे अधिकृत राजचिन्ह सुद्धा मोठया अभिनाने जगभरात आणि सम्मानाने पुजल्या आणि संग्रहीत करण्यात येते. आम्ही संशोधन करत असताना मिळालेल्या माहिती नुसार छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काळात दोन ते तीन प्रकारच्या मुद्रा त्यांच्या विशिष्ट्य उद्देशानुसार वापरात असल्याची माहिती मिळते परंतु प्रामुख्यने हि राजमुद्रा महाराजांची अधिकृत राजचिन्ह असल्याचं मान्यता बहुतांश इतिहासकर पण निर्विवाद पाने मान्य करतात. शिवाजी महाराजांची राजमुद्रा ज्याला आपण शिवमुद्रा म्हणून पण ओळखतो ती मात्र एकच आहे.

आधुनिक काळात छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या राजमुद्रेचे स्वरूप जरी कलात्मक दृष्टीने थोडेफार बदललेले आढळत असले तरी त्या वर मुद्रित श्लोक आणि त्याचा मूळ अर्थ जसा च्या तसाच आहे. आणि तो पण निर्वीवादीत.

प्रतिपच्चंद्रलेखेव वर्धिष्णुर्विश्ववंदीता ।।

शाहसूनोः शिवस्यैषा मुद्रा भद्राय राजते ।।

मराठी मध्ये अर्थ

“प्रतिपदेचा चंद्र जसा कले कलेने वाढत जातो व साऱ्या विश्वात वंदनीय होतो, त्याप्रकारे शहाजींचा पुत्र शिवाजी महाराजांच्या मुद्रेचा लौकिक वाढत जाईल व ही राजमुद्रा फक्त लोकांच्या कल्याणासाठी चमकेल.”

इंग्रजी मध्ये अर्थ

“The glory of this Mudra of Shahaji’s son Shivaji will grow like the first-day moon. It will be worshiped by the world & it will shine only for well-being of people.”
